Raspberry Pi is a family of small portable and single board computers. And in this family, by their form, factors and computational powers they are divided into several models.

  • Raspberry Pi 3 model B+
  • Compute module 3+
  • Raspberry Pi model A+
  • Raspberry Pi Zero W

Here are some technical specifications about some of the very famous Raspberry Pi boards.

>> Raspberry pi 3 model B+

This Raspberry Pi is the most famous one among all others. It is the updated version of the Raspberry Pi 3 model B lineups.

Specifications:

  • It is power by 1.4GHz Broadcom BCM2837B0, Cortex-A53 64 bit SoC.
  • Having 1gb LPDDR2 SDRAM
  • Gigabit Ethernet over USB 2.0
  • 40 GPIO HEADERS
  • Full size HDMI
  • 4 USB 2.0 Port
  • CSI camera port for connecting a Raspberry Pi camera
  • DSI display port for connecting a Raspberry Pi touchscreen display
  • 4-pole stereo output and composite video port
  • Micro SD port for loading your operating system and storing data
  • 5V/2.5A DC power input
  • And also supports Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support (requires separate PoE HAT)

>>Compute Module 3+/32GB

The CM3+/32GB Compute Module contains the guts of a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ (the BCM2837 processor and 1GB RAM) as well as an 32GB eMMC Flash device (which is the equivalent of the SD card in the Pi)

Specifications:

  • Broadcom BCM2837B0, Cortex-A53 (ARMv8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.2GHz
  • 1GB LPDDR2 SDRAM
  • 32GB eMMC Flash memory

But we have to use a compute module development kit to use it properly. And the development kit have 120 GPIO headers and 2 Camera connectors and 2 display connectors built in.

>>Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+ extends the Raspberry Pi 3 range into the A+ board format.

Specifications:

  • Broadcom BCM2837B0, Cortex-A53 (ARMv8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.4GHz
  • 512MB LPDDR2 SDRAM
  • 2.4GHz and 5GHz IEEE 802.11.b/g/n/ac wireless LAN, Bluetooth 4.2/BLE
  • The extended 40-pin GPIO header
  • Full-size HDMI
  • Single USB 2.0 ports
  • CSI camera port for connecting a Raspberry Pi Camera Module
  • DSI display port for connecting a Raspberry Pi Touch Display
  • 4-pole stereo output and composite video port
  • Micro SD port for loading your operating system and storing data
  • 5V/2.5A DC power input

>>Raspberry Pi Zero W

The Raspberry Pi Zero W extends the Pi Zero family. Launched at the end of February 2017, the Pi Zero W has all the functionality of the original Pi Zero, but comes with added connectivity, consisting of:

  • 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN
  • Bluetooth 4.1
  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)

Specifications:

  • 1GHz, single-core CPU
  • 512MB RAM
  • Mini HDMI and USB On-The-Go ports
  • Micro USB power
  • Hat-compatible 40-pin header
  • Composite video and reset headers
  • CSI camera connector

It’s small size and low power consumption make it a vast choice for all the battery powered projects.
