How to setup wifi and ssh without Display Or Lan cable of a Raspberry Pi

Hello friends today we will discuss how we can install a operating system as well as how we can configure the wifi and ssh connection of our raspberry Pi board without any display or lan cable. We can use the ssh connection from the first boot of the pi and only requires a sd card and a usb card reader or sd card adapter to perform this. All the required software links and files are available below.

How to install an OS in our Raspberry Pi board

To install a OS in the raspberry pi we need some software tools and the operating system itself. So let’s download them one by one.

Raspbian Os

Etcher

Putty

Once you finish downloading all of these software and the OS it’s time to install them one by one. Start with the etcher and then putty and the vnc viewer. After that simply extract the .zip file to the .img file. After that you are ready to flash the OS to the SD card. Insert the sd card in the computer and follow the given steps.

  1. Open the Etcher softened and choose the .img file from your computer.
  2. Choose the SD card in which you want to flash the OS.
  3. Click on flash button to start the burning process.

After completing the flashing of the SD card you have to remove it and again plug it on your system.

Configure the Wifi and the SSH of our Raspberry Pi

For this you have to create two files on the boot drive appairs after plugging the SD card. You can simply download them from this link wifi setup.zip. After downloading the file extract the file.

After that simply copy the files to the boot drive and edit the wpa_supplicant.txt file in any text editor.

Replace the ‘dnyindia’ with the wifi ssid (wifi name or the hotspot name) and replace the ‘66226622’ with your wifi password. Then save the file with .conf extension.

If you properly follow these steps then congrats your sd card is ready to use. Simply plug the sd card to your Raspberry Pi and power it on. Wait for some time and open the admin panel of your router there you can see that the Raspberry Pi is connected with the router and an IP address is assigned for the pi.

Simply copy that IP address and put it on the putty software and click the open button. From the first boot the default username is “pi” And the password is “raspberry”. After providing this credentials here the raspberry Pi terminal appairs in the display.
